Suzanne Fowler Neal's family moved to Northern Virginia in the early 1900s. In 1925, they moved into Silas Burke House, which they called Top o' the Hill. Suzi Fowler talks about growing up with a large family living in a historic home, the physical and social history of Burke, and her involvement in the historical society.

While in the U. S. Navy in 1979, Robert Mizer was stationed at the Pentagon. He moved his family into the Ravensworth area of the Braddock District and remained. May Caudle, wife of an early Burke Volunteer Fire Deparment chief climbs "Old Red." The used 1930 Ford cost $500; it was the first fire truck owned by the Burke Volunteer Fire Department (VFD), established in 1948.
